Collection: Get to know me

Welcome to my cooking website! I'm Marisa Demasiliere, a proud native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a passionate cook with deep roots in the rich culinary traditions of the Louisiana Creole culture.

Originally from the culturally vibrant 7th Ward, I grew up surrounded by the flavors and aromas that make our cuisine unique. Cooking is in my blood, passed down through generations, and it is a part of who I am.

My culinary journey began at home, learning from the best—my mother, Marisa the First, who has been my inspiration and mentor. From a young age, I watched her work magic in the kitchen, transforming simple ingredients into dishes that told the story of our heritage.

After Hurricane Katrina, I saw her resilience and determination as she sold plates out of our family truck, catered events, and eventually opened her own restaurant. Through her, I discovered my own passion for cooking. Throughout my life, cooking has always been my creative outlet.

In high school, I became known for incorporating my culinary skills into art projects and talent shows. I have also honed my skills working in various restaurants around New Orleans, learning from some of the city's finest chefs.

My website is a tribute to my mother's legacy and a celebration of Louisiana Creole cuisine. Here, you will find an array of recipes that reflect my cultural heritage, as well as Southern and fusion dishes that highlight my culinary explorations. Each recipe is a labor of love, crafted to bring the taste of New Orleans to your kitchen.

Join me on this delicious journey as I share the flavors of my heritage and my love for cooking with the world. Whether you are a seasoned cook or just starting, I hope my recipes inspire you to explore the rich culinary traditions of Louisiana and beyond.
